What a great weekend wheeling in Gold Valley with club. We travelled down Galloway to Downieville to check out the hangman gallows, then on to Sierra City, turned left and proceeded uptrail towards Gold Valley. Met a small SUV going up near the top. They were really lost. Went down Butcher Ranch trail, then up to meet Ron (MOG)T for lunch. Jim G had joined us for day run, so headed back out to Hwy49 after figuring out the way to 49. Then on to Gold Valley and Camp 1 for the night.
Ron and Tom headed to Hwy49 after breakfast. So now 6 rigs to check out the Petroglyphs. Had to look hard to find the trail down to them. A cool part of history there. Then uptrail towards Little Deer lake.
This part of trail is real 4 wheeling. I slid off trail in a nasty spot. Had to attach a pull line to a friendly tree with lots of help from Tom B, Frosty, Kevin V, and Mike H. Jeep was ready to flop down hill. My daughter Sherri was freaking out, but I told her the guys'll get us out, and they did.
Karen B (prospective) is a real trooper, and wheeled hard with us My daughter and I had a real bonding on this trip. Got home 3:45.
