From Gordon:

Headed out just after 9 a.m. on Texas Hill toward Black Mountain. There was spotty snow on the ground until we were 15 minutes past the gate and up the hill toward Black Mountain. The snow was much deeper than when we ran it during Winter Fun Fest.

We headed toward Twin Lake to see if we could make it through the roller coaster, but I got high-centered, with the bottom of my door a good 5 feet off the ground. Jeff had to pull me back down to earth. We decided it could be a long day if we continued toward the lake, so we turned around. I think we could have gone much farther if I had been driving the LJ instead of the JL as it is a shorter wheelbase.

We headed back toward Black Mountain, making it to the flat area where we had lunch. Tom attempted the hill toward the top but ran into a huge bowl he didn’t want to mess with. We turned around and headed up Texas Hill toward the lookout. Tom made a left instead of a right, which led us to a dead end. It turned out to be a great mistake, as this road had huge ruts and off-camber areas, making it a fun challenge.

We eventually turned around to get back on the correct trail. At that point, I headed back down to the schoolhouse to get my passenger home for a dinner engagement. The guys continued toward Big Valley Bluff, where they found much deeper snow.
