From Gary:

It was a sunny day with fresh snow. Brian led us up Gaston Grade. He stopped to engage 4WD and the transfer case failed. Steve towed  Brian's TJ back to Washington then gave him a ride home. Steve headed home and Brian drove back to Washington to wait for a tow truck.

Charlie took the lead and headed up after we got Steve and Brian heading back. The snow was very deep and his rig was the only one that could break a track. The rest of us had difficulty keeping up. We almost made it to Poor Man Creek where Charlie stopped to turn around.

After lunch, we started heading back and ended up getting stuck more than on our way up. The vehicles would occasionally go off track to the point where you needed a strap. At one spot  water runoff had created a deep hole. I was in the lead and did not make it through. My vehicle was jammed sideways and required shoveling and a  winch to get out.

We met up with Brian in Washington, aired up, and headed home.

From Brian:

Got the TJ back home at 6:30 that evening.  T-Case I think is toast, all the oil is gone in it.  Will be pulling it out next week.  Look forward to the next one.
