From Brian:
Today's run took us into the hills of TNF. We dropped down from Camptonville to the trail to Pike. At air down, Jim C had to turn back with his friend, who was having medical issues. Turned out he was ok (phew). Onto Pike, then Oregon Creek. There the steel bridge was washed out. A little tricky getting across with lockers on. Then down Sandusky Trail to Forest City for lunch. At lunch Tim H (prospective) was having brake issues, so he headed out with Richard C. Then up dirt trail from lunch to Ridge road, and headed to Lafayette trail. Got into lots of snow on road , and also snowing hard. Went down past Plumbago Mine to Yuba River, then up German Bar to main road, lots of mud at times.. Air up was close to 4, and I was back in GV before 5.
It was a great time wheeling with club. Just want to add, Deb N did great driving on her own taking on the trails. Thanks again to all who came today.
From Jim G:
We all had a great day in the forest with all the varietie nature had to offer. Thank God for Jim's friend! And Deb sure made that water crossing look easy - what a pro! Brian and Martin were great leaders, and Jim B made sure we all got through!
From Deb:
It was a great run with a bit of everything ... mud, rocky trails, snow, a water crossing, and did I mention mud! I gave my rig a good rinsing when I got home. It was a great opportunity to learn from the pros so thanks to Brian, Martin, Frosty, and everyone else for making it a successful day.
From Tim and Sandy H:
Sandy and I had a great first experience using the Rubicon for its intended purpose. So much fun with such a great group. It was nice to spend the night at Schoolhouse campground with Richard and Kathy and Jim C and his friend Dave. We cannot thank enough everyone who helped diagnose our loss of brake fluid, and especially Martin for coming up with Vise Grips to crimp off the leaking caliper. Who do we owe the can of brake fluid to? It was literally a life saver! Taking on these new challenges was exciting and having so many seasoned club members to help was reassuring. Thank you to Jim and Brian for organizing such a varied run. We look forward to our next outing.
