From Jim C:

We had a large group that met at Raley’s in Auburn and departed about 9:20 am due to late arrivals (it wasn’t me this time!). The route took us up through Foresthill and we turned right on Mosquito Ridge Road headed for Placer Big Trees. We stopped to admire the view around 7 miles before the Big Trees, upon departure, Gary B’s rig decided it did not have any interest at all on re-starting. We got a hold of AAA and made sure there was someone coming to tow it down the hill. Brandy graciously volunteered to wait with Gary for the tow truck. The rest of the group took a Martin wrinkle down to the "End of the World” to the end of the road and made our way back up to a good lunch stop. As we got back to Mosquito Ridge Road, Leslie called Brandy to check in and she said AAA we on their way and 90 minutes out at about 12:30 pm and she said go ahead and continue without her. We finally made it to Placer Big Trees, and then on up to French Meadows and on to Hellhole Reservoir. The plan was to take the the trail along Nevada Point Ridge (our only dirt portion of the run) back down to 11 Pines Road but it was almost 4pm by the time we were pulling out of Hellhole boat ramp that we decided it should just head back home. Half the group followed me down 11 Pines Road to Wentworth Springs Road through Georgetown and Cool and then through he canyon to Auburn (except Leslie and I since we live on that side anyway). The other half followed Martin to Robinson Flat and then down Foresthill Road. Despite delays and lack of actual four-wheeling, it was a nice relaxed Memorial Day Weekend run.
