From Brandy:

The group met up at the Camptonville Ranger Station and regrouped at Cal Ida. We headed out Brandy City Rd. to Forest Service Rd. 39 where we stopped for a short hike down to an old mining claim.

We stopped at Twin Culverts for lunch (Little Canyon Creek and Old Mill Creek). This was a shady little spot with lots of big green plants growing in the creeks.

After lunch, we made our way to Devil's Postpile, which was another little hike but definitely worth it to see a (rare for our area) geological phenomenon. Would definitely recommend going back for a climb up. Ron and Pat headed home from here while everyone else continued on to Poker Flat.

We made our way down to Poker Flat OHV trail, which is a short trail but fun with its own set of challenges, including steep, rocky terrain and sharp switchbacks. The creek was low, so the crossing was pretty easy this year. Stopped for a short break in Poker Flat, then began the steep and long ascent to Howland Flat and out to LaPorte for air up and travel home (or to the Deb's for dinner).

It was a very long day, and I hope everyone enjoyed the detours, turnarounds, and camaraderie! Everyone did a great job and no unexpected trouble occurred.

From Leslie C:

Our 2 night stay in the woods at D&D’s house was wonderful. Quiet nature nights.
Dinner was great! Jim BBQ'd the tri tips beautifully and we had a full complement of salads, bread and desserts. Martin’s brownies did not disappoint. Joanna and Mike brought ice cream sandwiches. Perfect after a long day. The company was very entertaining. The weather warm.
