Last Saturdays Blizzard pre run Scott, Mirley, and Art, met Nancy and I at LumberJacks for breakfast before heading out to Washington. We headed up Gaston grade (FR 21) to FR 50 while being entertained by the Henness Pass Pre-Run (trip report posted here) on the radio. Although we expected to blast through FR 50 to Bowman Lake Rd., after clearing two downed trees the snow conditions quickly degraded (a few miles from the top) and turned us back.
We returned to FR 21 and headed up to Bowman Rd. and to FR 41. We found this trail busy with no room for passing as we met several side by sides coming down as we got to FR41. This will be our Lunch area at WFF. We are hoping the snow conditions harden up some as moving off the trail and turning was a challenge. Once turned we headed out through Graniteville, Malakoff, and North Bloomfield to home. WFF will be Fun.
